TELL GOD YOUR HURTS (Part 2)

By Sandra Clifton, D.Min.

Begin your study by reading “Tell God Your Hurts” by Alice Smith (SpiritLed Woman magazine, Oct/Nov 2006).

Introduction

How easy it is to hold on to hurt and offenses and the pain others have caused us, than to let go of all of it! If you are ready to let go and move on to better (painless) days ahead, get into what God’s Word has to say—and let it show you how to be free!

What God Says

Read Prov. 12:25.

Write it out.

Deeper Insight

Read the following Scriptures (in New King James Version, as the exercises to follow will be based on that). Make brief notes of what each Scripture is saying about letting God handle your care, need, and unfinished concerns.

Prov. 13:12:______________________________________________________

Gal. 5:1:_________________________________________________________

Phil. 4:6:_________________________________________________________

1 Pet. 5:7:_______________________________________________________

Application

Below are scripture listings. Next to each one, see if you can write the entire passage from memory. Look up each passage, then, write them down on 3 X 5 cards. Carry them with you to fortify your spirit in the Spirit of God during your busy day. You will be all the stronger for doing this!

Prov. 13:12:______________________________________________________

Gal. 5:1:_________________________________________________________

Phil. 4:6:_________________________________________________________

1 Pet. 5:7:________________________________________________________

For Group Study

Begin your group time by reading aloud Gal. 5:1, and discuss all the ways in which it might point to God setting you free from the things that can hold you in bondage or hurt. Ask members to share how they have received victory by turning over “all their care” and to God.

Take prayer requests from members and close the meeting with prayer for the expressed needs, particularly focusing on hurts and bondages. Close prayer by thanking Him that He does heal and deliver us from all hurt and bondage!

Prayer

Memorize 1 Pet. 5:7, and pray thanks to God that you can cast (be casting) all your care upon Him—so give it to Him right now and proclaim victory and expect to see victory in your life, from this day forth!
