Week 1 YOUR SEASON OF DESTINY (Part 1) By Sandra Clifton, D.Min.
Begin your study by reading “This is Your Season” by Jill Austin (SpiritLed Woman, Oct/Nov 2007).
IntroductionYou are living in a time when God is moving powerfully against the darkness and evils of the culture and age. Because you are a believer and a follower of Christ, that puts you in His army. You are His vessel to carry His presence and power—to impact the world for Him and His glory. God’s Word shows you how to walk powerfully as the vessel of Christ in His army.\What God SaysRead: Luke 24:49.
Write it out. Deeper InsightRead the following Scriptures (in New King James Version, as the exercises to follow will be based on that). Make brief notes of how each passage reveals something about you being a vessel of God’s mighty power.
Luke 24:49: ________________________________________________
John 14:12: _______________________________________________
Acts 2:4: __________________________________________________
2 Corinthians 4:7:_________________________________________________
Application Fill in the blanks of the four Scriptures (or portions of Scriptures) below (which are in NKJV), taken from the previous Deeper Insight section. Afterward, check to see how you did by looking up the Scriptures. Put them on 3x5 cards or enter them into your computer (perhaps as a screen saver). Keep yourself reminded through God’s Word (in you) that you are His vessel.
Luke 24:49: “Behold, I send the _______ of My ______ upon you; but tarry in the city of _______ until you are endued with _____ from on high.”
John 14:12: “Most ________ I say to ___, he who _______ in Me, the ______ that I do he will ___ also; and ______ works than these he will ___, because I ___ to MY ______.”
Acts 2:4: “And they were all _____ with the Holy Spirit and began to ____ with other tongues, as the _____ gave them _____.”
2 Corinthians 4:7: “But we have this ______ in earthen ________, that the _________ of the _____ may be of ___ and not of us.”
For Group Study Begin your group time by first reading aloud 2 Corinthians 4:7, then discuss what it means by the reference to “earthen vessels”—and how we are that as believers and followers of Christ. Read aloud John 14:12. Have group take turns discussing what Jesus meant by this--and how this Scripture is His promise to empower us for great-and even greater—service as His vessels.Close the meeting with prayer, giving thanks to the Lord for empowering the group members to do great works for His glory! Thank Him that this is the season for ministries to begin, for already established ministries to grow and flourish. Thank Him for using mightily each member of the group.
PrayerMemorize John 14:12. Read it aloud as part of your prayer, and thank the Lord that He will empower you to move mightily in Him—to reach and touch and transform lives! Give Him thanks that you, as part of His mighty army, are able to stand strong and be a voice for Him. |
