Week 7 I’VE RESIGNED FROM RESIGNING (Part 2) By Sandra Clifton, D.Min.
Begin your study by reading “I’ve Resigned From Resigning” by Barbara Wentroble (SpiritLed Woman, Oct/Nov 2007).
IntroductionGod has called you to great things for His kingdom. Perhaps you have been too stressed and pre-occupied with other things to take time to find out what “the great things” are that God is calling you to do. Instead of letting the stresses of life cause you to resign from God’s perfect will for your life—and the great things you haven’t had time to do for Him—you should resign from resigning! Vow this day to get more into God’s Word, to discover His leading and directions for your life. Spend more time in prayer to embrace His will, then get active in walking out those great things He has in store for you!
What God SaysRead: Jeremiah 29:11. Write it out. Deeper InsightRead the following Scriptures (in New King James Version, as the exercises to follow will be based on that). Make brief notes of how each passage conveys the message that God has plans and works for you to fulfill.
Jeremiah 29:11: ________________________________________________ 2 Corinthians 9:8: _________________________________________________ Philippians 1:6: __________________________________________________
Application Below are themes (expressed in short sentences or phrases) from Scriptures, taken from the previous Deeper Insight section with two extra ones thrown in for good measure (no doubt for the purpose of testing)! Put the letter of the theme next to the right Scripture listing. When finished, check to see how you did by looking up the Scriptures. Put them on 3x5 cards or enter them into your computer (perhaps as a screen saver). Get the promises of God’s Word in you—that He has great plans for you!
Themes a. God is in control at all times. b. God knows the thoughts He thinks towards you. c. God never lies. d. He will complete the good work He has begun in you. e. God is able to make all grace abound toward you.
Scripture listings ____ Jeremiah 29:11 ____ 2 Corinthians 9:8 ____ Philippians 1:6
For Group Study Begin your group time by reading aloud 2 Cor. 9:8. Ask the group to share what they think the significance of this Scripture is. Ask them what they think “having an abundance for every good work” might mean to them. Encourage testimonies of how God’s grace has been sufficient for them to do the work of the ministry, despite the odds (ask them to give situations or stories from their lives, to encourage the group).Close the meeting with prayer, giving praise and thanks to the Lord for His grace that is sufficient! Thank Him that they are equipped with His grace in all things—having an abundance for every good work!
PrayerMemorize 2 Corinthians 9:8. Read it aloud as part of your prayer, and then thank the Lord that His grace is sufficient to give you the strength and power you need to do His work and to walk in the fulfillment if His calling for your life! |
