SAY YES TO GOD’S PROMISES (Part 1)

By Sandra Clifton, D.Min.

Begin your study by reading “Say Yes to God’s Promises” by Heidi Baker (SpiritLed Woman magazine, Dec/Jan 2007).

Introduction

Regardless of where you are or what is going on with you, God can break through to you at any moment! He can reach you and touch you with a message that will change your life. Are you ready to receive His promise, even though you may have to give up something for it to be fulfilled?

What God Says

Read Ps. 34:19.

Write it out.

Deeper Insight

Read the following Scriptures (in New King James Version, as the exercises to follow will be based on that). Make brief notes of what each passage is saying to you about how God encourages us to take His promises for us seriously–fulfilling them as we walk them out, step-by-step in faith.

Ps. 37:23-24:_____________________________________________________

Luke 1:26-30:____________________________________________________

John 15:16:______________________________________________________

Phil. 3:14:  ___________________________________________________

Application

Fill in the blanks of the Scriptures below (NKJV) taken from the previous Deeper Insight section. Check afterward to see how you did by looking up each one. Put them on 3x5 note cards, memorizing them, as powerful reminders that the Lord speaks to you and gives you His love and direction.

]

Psalm 37: 23: “The ____ of a ______ man are _______ by the Lord. And He delights in his _____.

Psalm 37:24: “Though he ___, he shall not be utterly ____ ____; for the Lord upholds him with His ____.”

Luke 1:30: “Then the angel said to her, ‘Do not be ____, Mary, for you have found ____ with God.’”

Phil. 3:14: “I ____ towards the goal for the ____ of the upward ____ of God in ______ Jesus.”

For Group Study

Begin your group time by reading aloud Psalm 37:23-24, then discuss the significance of each verse. Encourage members of the group to share and discuss how they have found these verses to be true in their lives. Testimonies of miracles and victory are to be encouraged!

End the meeting by taking prayer requests for God to speak to guide the members in their decisions to make, plans to be executed, and directions they need to take for their lives and callings.

Prayer

Memorize Phil. 3:14. Pray that the Lord empower your steps to press towards the goal for the upward call of God in your life. Pray that the Lord let you know if you have strayed from your call and reveal to you how to get back in it. Pray protection over His call on your life. Thank Him that every day brings you closer to the fulfillment of His great plans and purposes for your life.
