TIMELESS TREASURES

YOUR CALLING WILL FIND YOU (Part 1)

By Sandra Clifton, D.Min.

Begin your study by reading “Your Calling Will Find You” by Frances E. Willard (SpiritLed Woman magazine, Dec/Jan., 2007).

Introduction

Have you ever wondered about the best career or the right calling of God for your life? God’s Word will teach and guide you. Rest in Him and listen for His “still small voice” in your prayer time, as well. Your very life—present and future—is in His hands.

What God Says

Read Ps. 23:2-3.

Write it out. Think on it as it relates to your life and calling of God.

Deeper Insight

Read the following Scriptures (in New King James Version, as the exercises to follow will be based on that). Make brief notes of what each passage is saying to you about God’s calling on your life.

Ps. 23:2-3: _______________________________________________________

Ps. 37:3-9: _______________________________________________________

Ps. 42:7-8: _______________________________________________________

Jer. 33:3: ________________________________________________________

Application

Below are Scriptures (NKJV) taken from the previous Deeper Insight section (with some words missing). Fill in the blanks to the best of your ability, then look up the scriptures and see how you did. Copy them on 3x5 cards and memorize. Let them be your guide.

Ps. 23: 3: “He restores my ____; He leads me in the ______ of ___________ for His ________’s sake.”

Ps. 37: 4: “Delight yourself also in the ____, and __shall _____ you the ______ of your ____.”

Ps. 42:7: “______ calls unto _____. . . .”

Jer. 33:3: “Call to ___, and I will _______ you, and _____ you great and _________ things, which you do not ____.”

For Group Study

Begin your group time by reading aloud Ps. 37:4 and ask members of the group to share what it means to them related to the calling of God on their lives. Then read aloud Ps. 42:7 and discuss it and share ways in which they can become more sensitive to God calling them at deep levels.

End the meeting by taking prayer requests. Thank the Lord for His calling on the group members’ lives and on the lives of their loved ones, friends, and even strangers whom they have encountered during the course of their day

Prayer

Read aloud Jeremiah 33:3 as part of your prayer. Thank the Lord that He will show you great and mighty things in the hours, days, weeks ahead, that will reveal His great plans ands purposes for your life.

Ps. 145:3

Prov. 23:18

Phil. 4:13

______ I can do all things through Christ.

______ The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.

______ Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised.

______ Surely there is a hereafter, and your hope will not be cut off.

For Group Study

Begin your group time by reading aloud Ps. 37:23 and share views of what it means. Also encourage testimonies of how the Lord has guided anyone lost back to Him and, as well, how He has kept anyone “on His path” daily, despite enemy attacks and challenges.

End the meeting by praying for the calling of God on the group members’ lives—and that they will be fulfilled!

Prayer:

Read aloud as part of your prayer Phil. 4:13 and then thank the Lord that He daily empowers you to do all things through Him and His presence and direction. Thank Him for His calling on your life, that He is empowering you to walk in it successfully and completely, fulfilling it.
