Week 2 GUARD YOUR GLORY (Part 2) By Sandra Clifton, D.Min.
Begin your study by reading, “Guard your Glory” by Kay Arthur (SpiritLed Woman magazine, Dec/Jan 2008).
IntroductionWe have all fallen short of being like Jesus. The good news is that regardless of how much you have fallen short of this goal, you can begin to walk closer in Jesus’ ways today. As His believer, you carry His glory. Be encouraged that God’s Word will show you how to walk with His glory in you—and how to protect it every day.
What God SaysRead: Romans 3:23.
Write it out.
Deeper InsightRead the following Scriptures (in New King James Version, as the exercises to follow will be based on that). Make brief notes of what each Scripture reveals about living and being in the glory of Christ.
Rom. 3:23: ____________________________________________________
Col. 1:27: ______________________________________________________
2 Thess. 1: 12: __________________________________________________
1 Thess. 2:12: __________________________________________________
1 Thess. 2:19-20: ________________________________________________ Application Below are Scripture listings (taken from Deeper Insight section, using the NKJV). Place the letter of the listing in the blank space next to the theme (some are in phrase form) that speaks about that listing. Look up each Scripture listing and memorize it. Put the Scriptures on note cards or into your computer (as a screen saver). Keep your heart ablaze daily with these awesome reminders of God.
a) Rom. 3:23
b) Col. 1:27
c) 2 Thess. 1:12
d) 1 Thess. 2:12
_____ speaks of Christ the hope of glory _____ speaks of all having fallen short of the glory of God _____ speaks that you would walk worthy of God who calls you _____ speaks that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you
For Group Study Begin your group time by reading aloud Col. 1:27. Go around the group and ask members to share what the phrase, “Christ in you, the hope of glory” means to each one. Encourage testimonies and sharing of how this scriptural truth/imagery has inspired some to walk worthy and to walk, keeping His glory an active part of their lives. Or share how this Scripture has made all the difference in their lives. Close the group session in prayer, thanking the Lord for His glory in their lives and that He makes a way for them to guard it.
PrayerMemorize 1 Thess. 2: 12. Read it aloud as part of your prayer. Thank the Lord that He empowers you daily to walk worthy of His call. |
