Week 4 REFLECTION OF THE FATHER (Part 2) By Sandra Clifton, D.Min.
Begin your study by reading “Reflection of the Father” by Bill Johnson (SpiritLed Woman magazine, Dec/Jan 2008).
IntroductionJesus lived right in the face of God. In other words, He lived with His life open before God—a life that was accountable and obedient to His Father. His relationship with His Father was close and without barriers. How would you like to live in the face of God? God’s Word reveals how Jesus did it and how you can draw close to God.
What God SaysRead: Matthew 5:3.
Write it out.
Deeper InsightRead the following Scriptures (in New King James Version, as the exercises to follow will be based on that). Make brief notes of what each Scripture reveals something about the relationship Jesus had as the direct reflection of God.
John 16:7: __________________________________________________
John 17:4: __________________________________________________
John 17:22: __________________________________________________
Application Below are Scripture listings (taken from Deeper Insight section, using the NKJV). Place the letter of the listing in the blank space next to the theme (some are in phrase form) that speaks about that listing. Look out for an extra two listings that pertain to noneof the themes! Look up each Scripture listing and memorize it. Put the Scriptures on note cards or into your computer (as a screen saver). Fill yourself with the truths from God’s Word that mold you into the reflection of your Heavenly Father.
a) John 16:7
b) John 17:4
c) John 17:22:
d) Acts 6:10
e) Luke 7:50
_____ speaks of God’s glory given to Jesus that He has given to “them” [the world] _____ speaks of the Helper who will come when He [Jesus] goes away _____ speaks of Jesus finishing God’s work that God had given Him to do
For Group Study Begin your group time by reading aloud John 16:7. Discuss who the Helper is—and anything about Him members of the group might know. Him. Next have the group look up Acts 2:1-2. Discuss how this passage might relate to John 14:25-26 and John 16:7. Close the group session in prayer, thanking the Lord for His glory in their lives and that He makes a way for them to guard it.
PrayerMemorize the words of Jesus, from John 16:7. Thank the Lord that He has made a way for you to walk in the Lord’s ways, to be the reflection of God the Father. |
