Week 5 GOD SEES YOU WHEN YOU’RE HIDDEN (Part 1) By Sandra Clifton, D.Min.
Begin your study by reading “God Sees You When You’re Hidden” by Alicia Britt Chole (SpiritLed Woman magazine, Dec/Jan 2008).
IntroductionRegardless of what is happening (or not happening) in your life at the present, God is not done with you! He has a future that is brighter than anything you have seen so far. His Word gives You His promises—and His assurance that even in those times when you feel forgotten or overlooked, you are well known to God.
What God SaysRead: Mark 1:15.
Write it out.
Deeper InsightRead the following Scriptures (in New King James Version, as the exercises to follow will be based on that). Make brief notes of what each Scripture reveals something about God’s timing of being with you, despite where you are (such as the hidden places).
Mark 1:15: __________________________________________________
John 1:46: __________________________________________________
John 1:48: __________________________________________________
John 2:4: __________________________________________________
Application Fill in the blanks of the Scriptures (or portions of Scriptures) below (which are in NKJV), taken from the previous Deeper Insight section. Afterward, check to see how you did by looking up the Scriptures. Put them on 3x5 cards or enter them into your computer (perhaps as a screen saver). Get God’s promises in you that He is with you, wherever you are.
John 1: 46: “And Nathanael said to him, ‘Can anything ____ come out of ______?’”
John 1:48: “Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Before ____ called ___, when you were under the ____ ____, I ____ you.’”
John 2:4b: “My ____ has not ____.”
For Group Study Begin your group time by reading aloud John 1:48. Discuss the meaning of this passage of Scripture—and what it might be saying about the Lord seeing us even before we (or others) know it. Encourage testimonies of how group members felt all alone in situations, then only to discover (through circumstances, people, or personal revelation) that the Lord had been there with them all along! This is a good time to divide into groups and each present in improve style a brief skit showing someone who feels all along and the victim of circumstances, only to discover (through circumstances, people, or personal revelation) that they have never been alone! The Lord has always been with them, seeing and loving them in the “hidden” moments. Close the group session in prayer, thanking the Lord for being with each member in the private and hidden moments, never leaving them alone, but filling them with His love and glorious presence!
PrayerMemorize the words of Jesus, from John 1: 48. Give praise to the Lord for seeing you when you feel the most isolated. Thank Him, that although you may feel it, you are not alone, for He is always with you, no matter what! |
