The Only Perfect Love

By Sandra Clifton, D.Min.

Begin your study by reading “The Only Perfect Love” by Lisa Bevere (SpiritLed Woman magazine, April/May).

Introduction

God, being perfect and loving, is the only perfect love. His Word promises us that He will never leave you, nor fail you. . . .that you can place your very life in Him.

What God Says

Read Num. 23:19.

Write out the same Scripture and contemplate the significance of it. Draw comfort from God’s promises found in His Word!

Deeper Insight

Read the following Scriptures (in New King James Version, as the exercises to follow will be based on that). Make brief notes of what each Scripture is telling you about God being the only perfect love and how much He loves you.

Deut. 31: 6-8: ____________________________________________________

John 3:16: _______________________________________________________

Rom. 8:38-39: ____________________________________________________

1 John 4:7: ______________________________________________________

Application

Below you will find a list of Scriptures. Write as much as you can remember from memory of each oneeither word for word, paraphrased or just summarize the message is. The purpose of this exercise is to sharpen your ability to recall and retain what you read—for the purposes of using it later when sharing with others about God being the only perfect love.

1 John 4:7:____________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________.

Deut. 31:6-8: _____________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________.

Rom. 8:38-39: __________________________________________________.

John 3:16: _____________________________________________________

For Group Study

Begin your group time by reading aloud Deut. 31:6-8 and then discuss the promises of God’s love revealed from it. Share testimonies of how this Scripture has applied to the lives of group members.

Also read aloud 1 John 4:18-19, and then share testimonies of how group members over came fear through experiencing the perfect love of God.

Close the group session in prayer, each contributing to the prayer—thanking God for His being the only perfect love and thanking Him that His love will sustain them in specific (each name one request) situations to come in the week ahead.

Prayer

Read and memorize 1 John 4:18: “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.” Recite it (read it or recite from memory) and then pray that the Lord replace any fear you have with a sense of His perfect love, in which no fear can “dwell.” Thank Him for a newfound sense of His peace, protection and His perfect love that surrounds you in all that you do today and from now on!
