Week 7 LOVE COVERED MY SHAME By Sandra Clifton, D.Min.
Begin your study by reading “Love Covered My Shame” by Denise Renner (SpiritLed Woman magazine, April/May, 2007).
IntroductionThe shame you might have from you past might be great, but God’s love is far greater. It can cover and heal that shame! God’s Word testifies that He loves you unconditionally, regardless of how much you have sinned or messed up in your past. His Word also promises you that you can be made whole, cleansed, and set free from your past!
What God SaysRead Ps. 139:1-18.
Write it out. Spend quiet moments reflecting on how what God is telling you about your own life.
Deeper InsightRead the following scriptures (in New King James Version, as the exercises to follow will be based on that). Make brief notes of what God is saying to you about what He has done for you through His love for you.

For Group Study Begin your group time by reading aloud Ps. 139:1-18. Go around the group and encourage members to share what each verse means to them. Also encourage them to share ways in which they might be able to minister to others with past shame and memories of defeat. They can even be some role playing here (with part assigned).Close the group session in prayer, and thank God that His love is greater than anything from our past or present. Thank Him that His love heals, delivers, saves, and makes us whole. Thank Jesus for what He did for us all on the cross.
PrayerMemorize Ps. 139: 13-14. Read it aloud as part of your prayer. Soak in God’s unconditional love for you. Praise Him! Face your week fully blessed and at peace with your past because of the all-encompassing peace and love through Jesus Christ! |
