Week 8 LIVE AS IN HIS PRESENCE(Part 1) By Sandra Clifton, D.Min.
Begin your study by reading “Live as in His Presence” by Susanna Wesley and Charles Wallace Jr. (Ed.) (SpiritLed Woman magazine, April/May, 2007).
IntroductionIt is not easy to live in the midst of temptations and stresses that hit at you daily and to keep our minds and heart pure before the Lord. Thankfully, God’s Word will give you the power to not only keep a pure mind and heart, but to walk through your day in His peace, in ways that please Him.
What God SaysRead Deut. 32: 3-4.
Write it out. Think about what it means and how it might relate to you and your day and its temptations and stresses.
Deeper InsightRead the following scriptures (in New King James Version), as the exercises to follow will be based on that). Make brief notes of what each passage is saying to you about living in God’s presence.
Deut. 32:3-4: ___________________________________________________
Ps. 90:12: _______________________________________________________
Matt. 6:30-34: ____________________________________________________
Rom. 7:14-25: ___________________________________________________
Application Below you will find three scriptures. See if you can fill in the blanks with the individual accurate words (NKJV) taken from the previous Deeper Insight section. Check afterward to see how you did by looking up each one. Put them on 3x5 note cards, memorizing them, as powerful reminders that God Almighty’s presence is with you!
Deut. 32:3: “For I proclaim the ______of the _____: ascribe __________ to our God.”
Ps. 90:12: “So _______ us to number our _____, that we may gain a ______ of wisdom.”
Matt. 6: 33: “But ___ first the _______ of ____ and His _________, and all these _____ shall be ______ to you.”
For Group Study Begin your group time by reading aloud Matt. 6: 30-34. Take each verse and discuss what each might mean. Also encourage group members to share testimonies that bear witness to the truths found in these verses.
Close the meeting by taking prayer requests. Thank the Lord for His continued presence in everyone’s (and their families’) daily lives. Thank Him for giving each member of the group and their families the power to walk in His almighty presence, no matter what they are facing.Prayer Memorize Matt. 6:33. Read it as part of your prayer. Thank the Lord for empowering you to walk daily in His almighty presence. Thank Him for giving you His strength and His wisdom as you walk through your days and week ahead. |
