Week 9 LIVE AS IN HIS PRESENCE(Part 2) By Sandra Clifton, D.Min.
Begin your study by reading “Live as in His Presence” by Susanna Wesley and Charles Wallace Jr. (Ed.) (SpiritLed Woman magazine, April/May 2007).
IntroductionDo not be perplexed or upset about the state of your heart—that it might not be yet where it is supposed to be. God knows your heart and loves you “where you are.” His Word will show you how to rely on Him—the Perfect One—when you feel weak or imperfect.
What God SaysRead Jer. 10:23.
Write it out.
Deeper InsightRead the following scriptures (in New King James Version, as the exercises to follow will be based on that). Make brief notes of what God is saying to you about living in His presence.
Jer. 10:23: _______________________________________________________
1 Cor. 10:11-13: __________________________________________________
Phil. 4: 8-9: ______________________________________________________
James 4:7-10: ____________________________________________________ Application Below are three scripture listings taken from the previous Deeper Insight section (drawn from NKJV). Next to each one, write out what you recall is the message in your own words. Then look up the scripture listings and see how you did. Memorize all, word by word, as they appear in the Bible. Getting God’s Word in you will carry the promises of His presence with you into your day.
Jer. 10:23______________________________________________________
Phil. 4:8_________________________________________________________
James 4:10______________________________________________________
For Group Study Begin your group time by reading aloud Phil. 4:8. Discuss, line by line, what it all might mean and how it might apply in various ways to daily life. Encourage testimonies of how members see that it has either “worked” or been applied in their lives or how they intend to apply the truths of this Scripture in the future.Close the group session in prayer, thanking the Lord for empowering each member of the group (and their families) to keep focused on God’s presence in their daily lives. PrayerMemorize Phil 4:8. Read it aloud as part of your prayer. Thank the Lord that He is keeping you in godly thought, emotions, actions throughout your day. Thank Him that you are walking in His presence, as a result, where you are protected and strong in Him. |
