Week 3 A Fresh Look at the Lord (Part 1) By Sandra Clifton, D.Min.
Begin your study by reading “A Fresh Look at the Lord” by Anne Lotz Graham (SpiritLed Woman magazine, June/July, 2006).
IntroductionThe term “revival” is a popular one, bringing to mind masses of humanity falling over in the ecstasy of God showing up. But have you considered that God might be showing up in ways that do not always meet the eye---working on the inside of you to bring revival to you deep within? Consider what a magnificent refreshing and transformation this could bring to your soul! God’s Word enlightens you what might happen when you encounter a visit from God, personally, deep within! What God SaysRead Ps. 141:1-2.
Write it out, and contemplate meaning.
Deeper InsightRead the following scriptures (in New King James Version, as the exercises to follow will be based on that). Make brief notes of what each Scripture is saying about God
Ps. 141:1-2 ______________________________________________________
Ps. 142:10: ______________________________________________________
Is. 6:8: _________________________________________________________
John 6:47-50: ____________________________________________________
Application
Below are listed 4 statements about scriptures from the previous section, Deeper Insight (NKJV). See if you can take “the hint” or statement for each scripture and recall as much of that scripture as possible. If you can’t, then be of good cheer and memorize each Scripture (after you look it up).
Ps. 141:2 (hint: likens ‘my prayer’ to incense set before You): ________________________________________________________________
Ps. 142: 10: (hint: asks the Lord to ‘teach me.’): ________________________________________________________________
Is. 6:8 (hint: final sentence asks the Lord to ‘send me’—what is final sentence of this verse?): ________________________________________________________________
John 6: 48 (hint: Jesus call Himself something to do with bread): ________________________________________________________________
For Group Study Begin your group time by reading aloud John 6:48. Discuss what this verse might mean and how it can bring comfort and peace to anyone in varying circumstances (brainstorm what those circumstances might be).
Close the group session in prayer, thanking the Lord that He is the bread of life, giving sustenance, health, life itself to us each and every day.
PrayerMemorize John 6:47-48. Thank the Lord that He is your Savior and your bread of life—nurturing you, sustaining you, and giving you eternal life. |
