Week 4 The Root of Unbelief (Part 2) By Sandra Clifton, D.Min.
Begin your study by reading “The Root of Unbelief” by John L. and Paula Sandford (SpiritLed Woman magazine June/July, 2007).
IntroductionYou are converted to believing in Jesus Christ! But what about your heart? Has your heart allowed the doubts in you to convert to belief in the power of what the Lord can do for you? God’s Word will help you to mature in Christ, to get you beyond head knowledge of Jesus Christ, into a relationship, where you fully believe—and never doubt the Lord—in His promises!
What God SaysRead Prov. 23:7.
Write it out. Think on what that might mean and how it relates to you and your life.
Deeper InsightRead the following Scriptures (in New King James Version, as the exercises to follow will be based on that). Make brief notes of what God might be saying to you about your very thoughts and beliefs—not to doubt but to place your faith and trust in Him.
Prov. 23:7: _______________________________________________________
Matt. 10:30-31: ___________________________________________________
1 John 4:19-21: ___________________________________________________
Application Below are three scriptures from the previous Deeper Insight section (drawn from NKJV). Fill in the blanks, from memory. Next look them up to see how you did. Memorize all listings, word for word. This will get the promises of God inside you, helping to transform your doubts to beliefs, positioning you to receive the great blessings of God!
Prov. 23:7 (first line only): “For as he ____ in his heart, so is ___.”
Matt. 10:30: “But the very ____ of your ______ are all __________. Do not fear therefore, you are of more ______ than many sparrows.”
1 John 4:19a: “There is no ___ in ____; but perfect _____ casts out ____.”
For Group Study Begin your group time by reading aloud 1 John 4:19a, and have members share what it means to them. Encourage testimonies. Discuss how this scripture might be used in various scenarios or situations to encourage others (in their daily encounters) to believe more (rather than doubt) that God is in charge!Close the group session in prayer, thanking God for helping the group members believe more in a great and good God who only desires the best for them.
PrayerMemorize 1 John 4:19a, and then read it aloud as part of your prayer. Thank the Lord for helping you to enter into a closer relationship with Him, where you feel His love and faithfulness—increasing your beliefs (as all doubt goes away) of who He is and what He desires to do in your life! |
