Week 6

THE ROOTS OF UNBELIEF (Part 1)

By Sandra Clifton, D.Min.

Begin your study by reading “The Roots of Unbelief” by John L. and Paula Sandford (SpiritLed Woman magazine, June/July 2007).

What God Says

Read Romans 10:10.

Write it out.

Deeper Insight

Read the following Scriptures (in New King James Version, as the exercises to follow will be based on that). Make brief notes of what each passage is saying to you about taking God at His Word, through His promises to bless you and your life.

Rom. 10:10: ______________________________________________________

Eph. 2:6: _______________________________________________________

Heb. 3:12-14: _____________________________________________________

Heb. 10:14: _____________________________________________________

Application

Below are three lesser known, but very powerful promises of God that lead to powerful blessings. Fill in the blanks (using NKJV, taken from the previous Deeper Insight section). Check afterward to see how you did by looking up each one. Put them on 3x5 note cards, or on your computer as perhaps a screen saver, memorizing them, as constant reminders of His love and faithfulness.

For Group Study

Begin your group time by reading aloud Heb. 3:12, and discuss among the group why unbelief works against God and His promises for their lives. Also discuss how unbelief is unscriptural (find Scriptures while there that promote belief). And discuss how unbelief might cause them to miss actual blessings and miracles that God has for them!

End the meeting by taking prayer requests, then praying that each one present become a “believing believer”! Pray that each member and her family come to know through God’s Word the promises of God and begin to walk in them daily as “partakers of Christ.”

Prayer

Memorize Heb. 3:14. Read it aloud as the beginning of your prayer. Thank the Lord that you are a “partaker of Christ”---entering in to His unlimited and great blessings for your and your life! Thank Him that He has made a way for you to receive all that He has for you by means of believing God’s Word of great promises for you and your life!
