Week 2 KEEPING YOUR INTEGRITY
(Part 2) By Sandra Clifton, D.Min. Begin
your study by reading “How to Resist Compromise” by Beth Moore (SpiritLed Woman magazine, Aug/Sept,
2006). Introduction
It would be nice to be
surrounded by people who are open to hearing what you have to share about your
faith. But in our eclectic (and in many cases, anti-Christ) culture, it is
difficult to share because many are so closed to hearing anything about Christ. In
God’s Word, Daniel is the example of one who did speak up and spoke his faith
when it was not popular to do so. We can learn (and be blessed) by the example
that Daniel has set for us. What
God Says
Read Daniel 6:
10-24 (of Daniel in the lions’ den). Write out Prov. 29:25.
Deeper
Insight
Read the following Scriptures (in New King James Version, as the exercises to follow will be based on that). Make brief notes of what each Scripture is showing you regarding standing firm in your faith, despite the beliefs or pressures of others. Dan. 6:10-24:_____________________________________________________ Prov. 29:25:_____________________________________________________ 1 Cor. 16:13-14:__________________________________________________ Gal. 5:1-6:_______________________________________________________ Application The account of Daniel in the lions’ den is a vital
lesson of standing firm in our faith. Below are Scriptures taken from the
previous Deeper Insight section (NKJV used). They are from the story found in
Daniel 6:10-24. (Don’t go there now, as this is a test you might say of your
faith in memory!). Next to each blank, put T if the statement relates to the
Scripture listing and F (for false)
if it doesn’t. Look up all Scripture listings and see how accurate you
(hopefully) were. _____Dan. 6:10:
It was Daniel’s custom to pray to many gods at the beginning of his day. _____Dan.
6:6:13: Daniel was betrayed by a group of men to King Darius. _____Dan. 6: 22: After two days and nights in the lions’ den,
Daniel emerged without a scratch. _____Dan. 6:23:
The king was exceedingly glad for Daniel that he had survived the lions’ den. For Group Study Begin your group time by
reading aloud 1 Cor. 16:13-14, and then go around the group discussing what
these two Scriptures mean and how they might apply to any situations from daily
life. Testimonies are always to be encouraged, as the encourage the rest of the
group as to how to apply God’s Word.
Close the group session in prayer—thanking the Lord that
He is making each group member a firm and loving witness who points the way to
Jesus Christ and eternity through Him.
Prayer
Memorize 1 Cor. 16: 13-14.
Then read it to the Lord, asking Him to work through, His vessel, to show His
love and encouragement to everyone you encounter in your day, each and every
day. Thank Him that for dying for you on the cross, so that you might have eternal life through Him as your Savior. And thank Him that you can share this good news of the Savior no matter where you go. |
