Week 7 YOU CAN SURVIVE A
FINANCIAL MELTDOWN By Sandra Clifton, D.Min. Begin
your study by reading “You Can Survive a Financial Meltdown” by Deborah
McNaughton (SpiritLed Woman magazine,
Aug/Sept 2006). Introduction
If the bottom were to drop
out from under you financially today, would you know what to do? Did you know
that you can stand on God’s Word as your foundation, for strength and
protection? Let His Word guide you and give you the strength and peace you
might need for any daily financial challenge. What
God Says
Read Ps.
91:1-6. Write out Ps. 91:1.
Deeper
Insight
Read the following Scriptures (in New King James Version, as the exercises to follow will be based on that). Make brief notes of what each Scripture is showing you regarding finding strength and protection in God and how you can apply each to financial challenges. Ps. 91:1-6:_______________________________________________________ Ps. 23:4:________________________________________________________ Is. 26:3-4:________________________________________________________ Matt. 11:28-30:____________________________________________________ Application Below are scripture listings. They match the themes
listed below them (of course they are out of order and it is up to you to find
which listing matches the paraphrased theme). Place the letter of the scripture
onto the blank next to the theme. Look up the scriptures and see how well you
did (hopefully). Write them down and memorize the whole scriptures, as well as
the themes for each so that you will know what they mean and can recall them
when ministering to others. Ps. 91:1 Ps. 23:4 Matt. 11:29 Isaiah. 26: 3 _____In the valley of the shadow of death I will fear
no evil. _____those who dwell in the secret place of the Most
High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. _____The Lord will keep you in perfect peace whose
mind is stayed on Him. ______If we come to Him (those of us who labor and are
heavy laden), He will give us rest. For Group Study Begin your group time by
reading aloud Matt. 11:28-30. Discuss verse by verse what it all might mean and
how to apply these verses to real-life situations.
Encourage
testimonies from the group members as to how they received rest and peace from
the Lord when they turned to Him and took His yoke upon them. Discuss as well
what that particular phrase might mean, using the modern day analogy and symbol
of what a yoke is and how it might apply to the image of our taking His yoke
upon us.
Close the group session in prayer with
thankfulness that we truly can come to Him at any time for any thing and that
He will carry the burden and make a way through the darkest of hours, giving us
a miracle! Prayer
Memorize Matt. 11:28-30. Read it as part of your prayer and then thank Him that as you take His yoke upon you that you are finding complete rest and peace for your soul. Thank Him that all of your needs are met, your prayers are answered, and that He is making a way for you to walk in victory over all financial challenges this day (and in the future)! |
