Week 8 GOD IS ABLE TO KEEP
YOU (Part 1) By Sandra Clifton, D.Min. Begin
your study by reading “God is Able to Keep You ” by Andrew Murray (SpiritLed Woman magazine, Aug/Sept,
2006). Introduction
Regardless
of what you face this week, God is able to keep you—and with Jesus as your
“Vine” and you “His branch” you will remain attached to Him and protected in
all circumstances. What
God Says
Read John
15:1-7. Write out John 15:5.
Deeper
Insight
Read the following scriptures (in New King James Version, as the exercises to follow will be based on that). Make brief notes of what passage has to say about God being able to keep you and bless you at all times. John 15:1-7:_____________________________________________________ John 16:24:______________________________________________________ 1 Cor. 1:30:______________________________________________________ 1 Cor. 16:13:_____________________________________________________ Application Fill in the blanks of the scriptures below (NKJV)
taken from the previous Deeper Insight section. Check afterward to see how you
did by looking up each one. Put each one on a 3x5 note card, memorizing them,
as reminders that God is able to keep you, no matter what you are going
through. John 15:7: “If you ____ in Me, and My _____
abide in you, you will ____ what you ______, and it shall be ____ for you. John 16:24: “Until now you have _____ nothing
in My name. Ask, and you will ________, that your ____ may be full.” 1 Cor. 16:13: “Watch, stand ____ __in the ______,
be ____, be ____.” For Group Study Begin your group time by reading aloud John 15:1-7, and go verse by
verse, discussing the significance of each one and adding what each one might
mean to each member of the group (drawing upon any time when it was evident to
them that Jesus was the Vine and they were the branches and were able to draw
great strength from Him).
Close
the meeting by asking if anyone needs to be lifted up and strengthened this
week (for specifics requested or in general). Pray thanks to God that each and
every one of the group is a branch, connected to Jesus the Vine. Give thanks
that each one can draw great strength from Him, their Vine.
Prayer Memorize all of John 15:1-7.
Thank the Lord that as your Vine (with you His branch), you can draw strength,
confidence, and health from Him, no matter what your circumstances are. Thank
Him that He feeds you, nourishes you, and blesses you at all times through your
day and your week. Thank Him for a very blessed week! |
