WEEK 8 TIMELESS TREASURES GOD IS LOVE (Part 1) By Sandra Clifton, D.Min. Begin your study by reading “God is
Love” by Evangeline Cory Booth (SpiritLed
Woman magazine, Aug/Sept, 2007). Introduction
Consider
that your very existence is the expression of a loving Father God who placed
you on this earth for a reason. Read His Word and you will begin to fully
understand just how much God loves you. What
God Says
Read Matt. 22:37-39. Write it out.
Deeper
Insight
Read the following Scriptures (in New King James Version, as the exercises to follow will be based on that). Make brief notes of what each Scripture is saying about God’s love for you. Matt. 22:37-39:____________________________________________________ John 14: 6: ______________________________________________________ Phil. 4:8:________________________________________________________ 1 John 2:10: _____________________________________________________ Application Below are Scripture listings (taken from Deeper Insight section, using the NKJV). Place the letter of the listing in the blank space next to the theme that matches it. Look up each Scripture listing and memorize them. Put them on note cards or into your computer (as a screen saver). Be reminded and encouraged daily of His love. A) Matt. 22:37 B) John 14:6 C) Phil 4:8: D) 1 John 2:10 _____ Think on certain things, such as whatever things are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, for instance. _____ He who loves his brother abides in the light, with no cause to stumble. _____ Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. _____ Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. For Group Study Begin
your group time by reading aloud Philippians 4:8. Have members of the group
share and discuss how this Scripture verse might help in times of daily
stresses (name some and share how this might help overcome those stresses).
Encourage testimonies. Close the group session in prayer,
thanking the Lord that He gives focus, peace of mind and Christ-like thoughts
in the midst of challenges and the storms of life. Thank Him for giving the
power to overcome those challenges (through the abilities to focus and think
clearly on His Word and the things of God)! Prayer
Memorize Philippians 4:8.
Read it aloud as part of your prayer. Thank the Lord that you approach your day
through His eyes—in His godly focus and through His point of view. Give thanks
to Him, that, as you dwell on the gentle and good things of God, you will walk
more firmly in His very presence, encompassed on all sides by His love for you,
and under-girded by His great power. |
